Runoff from a neighboring property and poor on site drainage were the first challenges to address. Adding a level area for outdoor gathering and a functional means of traveling through the space added a much needed focus to this urban backyard. New wood fencing added privacy that was desired and shade tolerant plantings soften the edges and add a quaint garden feel to this small buy very functional space.
While the bones of this Wellesley property were well established, homeowners were looking to breath new life into a few aspects. Overgrown and unhealthy foundation beds needed replanting - and welcomed a mixture of trees, shrubs and perennials to provide multi-season interest. Woodland borders were established, but changed site conditions required replanting with deep shade tolerant species. The existing front walkway and steps were in good condition, but needed dramatic punctuation. We designed custom curved fence pieces, echoing fence elements elsewhere on the property, to frame the walk and serve as a backdrop for colorful mixed bed plantings.

With its original foundation shrubs in an overgrown and unhealthy state, this Needham residence was in need of a landscape renovation and new front lawn. One major goal was to increase curb appeal, by adding a greater variety of plant types, sizes, colors and textures. The other was to redesign the front walkway layout to both create better access and flow from the driveway/garage to the front door as well as create a more interesting visual from multiple vantage points.

A recent home renovation left this property barren of most all landscaping. Working closely with the homeowner, we created a master plan that would incorporate both the front entry and a backyard outdoor living space, including transitions in between.
A combination of fencing and planting beds define the outdoor spaces. New walkways were added to enhance flow and accessibility as well as compliment existing hardscape. A combination of plant types, textures and colors create multi-season interest as well as a visual richness that enhances landscape experience.
